For the very first time in history, UK-Kenyan Achivers Award was held in Bloomsbury London courtesy of london2gether Ltd. These Awards recognised Kenyans in the UK who had excelled in various spheres of their disciplines. Kenyans in the UK have distinguished themselves by working hard and smart despite the tough environment in Britain. The awards were supported by Kenya High Commission and various organisations.
The Dinner Dance Award ceremony was held at Holiday Inn Bloomsbury, Coram Street,London, WC1N 1HT on the 18th of April 2009 from 6pm to 2am.
Trophies were awarded in various categories as listed below after being nominated and then voted for by Kenyans.
Winners were announced on 18.04.2009 during the event.
NB: Next UK - Kenyan Achievers Awards will be held on the 6th of March 2010.

Mr and Miss East Africa UK beauty pageants are fully funded by Pauline Long. She uses the pageants to create awareness for the plight of East Africa 's underprivileged children. Through her pageants she raises funds for various charities. In 2008 she focused on Kenya raising funds for Hope for the child charity- Kenyan Charity (www.hopeforthechild.org) Radii Children of Kenya, Forever Angels baby home of Tanzania (www.foreverangels.org).

Dr David Muhia - I would like to nominate Dr David Muhia for the award of top academician. David completed his Biomedical Sciences degree from the University of Bradford in just two years instead of the usual four years and also got a first class and became the first black student to do so in the history of that university. David has done a lot of research in the field of malaria and he has written over ten scientific research articles. He wrote his first scientific paper before he completed his first degree. David completed his PhD in Tropical Medicine from the world renown London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in year 2000 before age 30. He was a Welcome Trust PhD Prize student as well as an Oversees Research Student (ORS) scholarship awardee. He was later awarded the prestigious Welcome Trust Prize Fellowship for 2 years to continue his research at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. In 2002, David was appointed as a fellow/lecturer at the world renown Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Oxford. In 2007, David was awarded a social entrepreneurship scholarship by Geff Skoll (one of the founders of google) foundation to study MBA at one of the top business schools - Said Business School, University of Oxford.
